I wish I could accurately describe the kind of anger and disappointment I’m feeling towards the media as this Fort Hood shooting unfolds. The Vancouver Sun, for instance, mentioned that the shooter was Muslim in the 4th sentence of an article while waiting for the 20th PARAGRAPH to mention he was being tormented by his peers and was about to be deployed to Iraq. I’m obviously not making excuses for this heinous violence, however I can’t help but think that the two latter factors are so much more relevant in shaping our understanding of what happened there today. Pretty happy that this industry is in its final death throes.
